Hi,

After posting two backlog questions yesterday, here is the question for today.

PS: For latest scores, please check Q.36.

Q.34.

A dart board has 4 regions. The bull's eye has 11 points, and every subsequent rings are valued at 7, 3 and 2 points respectively as you move away from the centre.

One day Ketan, Viru, Manish and Nikunj were playing, and after each one of them had thrown 6 darts, they all had the same total score!

How can this be possible as Ketan hit the bull's eye most number of times among the four of them, Viru was the most consistent, Nikunj's darts were evenly spread in three of the four regions, while Manish had most of his darts missing the bull's eye by a whisker.

What was their common score and how did each one of them achieve it?

Deadline for this Question: Its Tuesday midnight again!!

Regards,

Manish sir

Hello Sir,
My answer is 42
Explanation: As Nikunj’s darts were evenly spread in three of the four regions, we can take any of the 3 regions out of the 4. So the possibilities of total score of Nikunj are:
2 * 11 = 22
2 * 7 = 14
2 * 3 = 6 i.e. 42

2 * 11 = 22
2 * 3 = 6
2 * 2 = 4 i.e. 32

2 * 11 = 22
2 * 7 = 14
2 * 2 = 4 i.e. 40

2 * 7 = 14
2 * 3 = 6
2 * 2 = 4 i.e. 24

so the answer can be among these 4 options only since the scores of all of them are equal.

Taking 42, we try to satisfy the conditions

Ketan: Since we already have 2 bulls eye by nikunj we take 3 bulls eye for ketan and get 42.
3 * 11 = 33
3 * 3 = 9
so we get 42 and it satisfies the condition of maximum bulls eye.

Viru: since he is the most consistent we can simply take 6 * 7 = 42

Manish: since manish’s most of the darts miss the bulls eye by a whisker we take 4 darts missing the bulls eye so we get
4 * 7 = 28
1 * 11 = 11
1 * 3 = 3
total again we get 42.

So with 42 all the conditions can be satisfied.

Taking other possibilities, none of them satisfy all the conditions at the same time.
With 32 ketan cannot satisfy his conditions, with 40 Viru cannot satisfy his, and with 24 Manish cannot satisfy his.

So 42 is the answer.

Hello... Piyush is absolutely rite .....
the catchis nikunjs score.. as it says evenly distributed in three ofthe four regions.. therefore only possible scores are...
42, 40 , 32 , 24
out of which 42 is the only score which satisfies all the conditions...
so ans is 42
bye tc godbless
