As we have started with Prep CETs. I have posted this thread to discuss Prep CET Tests. I hope you all will come here and discuss the questions.
Specially Syllogisms as it require immense discussion to come at particular conclusion (by conclusion i mean answer and not only conclusions).

Here is the question i would like to discuss, please discuss it without using answer key and explanatory. (oh, I know now you will do that!)

Q.110.

Should discos be closed in chennai?
A. Yes, because Chennaites believe that it is against their culture to dance in discotheque.

B. No, because, there are many people from outside Chennai, including foreigners, who having no other recreational facilities in the city, unwind at these discos.

1) Argument A is forceful.
2) Argument B is forceful
3) Both A and B are forceful.
4) Either A or B is forceful.
5) Neither A nor B is forceful.

Would you like to compare your performance in Peak Seekers prepCET 1 with students who did well in the actual CET last year? Here goes:

An average prepCET 1 score of: 129
An average actual CET score of : 153

The Peak Seekers students who were finally admitted to Sydenham had
An average prepCET 1 score of: 120
An average actual CET score of : 126

The Peak Seekers students who were finally admitted to Welingkar had
An average prepCET 1 score of: 98
An average actual CET score of : 126

The Peak Seekers students who were finally admitted to Somaiya had
An average prepCET 1 score of: 106
An average actual CET score of : 133

Note that this analysis only includes the scores of Peak Seekers students. Use it to evaluate your current performance. Also use it to motivate yourself to improve. A good way to think would be "I got a score off xyz. Those who got into Bajaj had scored abc. So, I need to raise my score by nnn. I will manage this by getting aa extra points in Visuals, bb extra points in Logic, cc extra points in verbal, dd extra points by attempting the full paper ..."

Syllogisms are always tricky, alongwith visuals, we have ¼th of the CET paper as the tricky part {50 marks}.

Kindly suggest an approach with regards to these 50 crucial marks.

Hi Shashank,

Where were you when we had the PrepCET 1 analysis on Wednesday and then again on Saturday!

I had suggested an overall strategy of how to approach the entire paper.

Pehaphs, meet me sometime in the next week (oops! infact the next year), and I will suggest you the same.
